AN UMIMATSU (SEA-PINE) SASHI NETSUKE OF A BEANPOD A KUROGAKI (BLACK PERSIMMON) WOOD KISERUZUTSU
By Yoshida, Iwami style, 19th century (PIPE CASE)
The long pod of dark umimatsu with pale patches, carved in relief with By Seiyodo Tomiaki (born 1746), Iwami Province,
a long bifurcated stalk, part of the stalk forming the himotoshi; late 18th/early 19th century
signed Kyoto Yoshida to (carved by Yoshida of Kyoto). The pipe case of senryu-zutsu form, with a pronounced wood-grain
22.3cm (8¾in). effect, a cicada carved on the side in high relief, its legs deeply
undercut; signed Ishikawa Seiyodo Shi Tomiharu monjin Fune Tomiaki
