A YING SCHOLAR’S ROCK
QING DYNASTY (1644-1911)
The slender rock of vertical orientation rises from a narrow base
to a large cresting overhang extending outwards horizontally. The
jagged surface of the stone is textured overall by sharp ridges, deep
crevices and pits. The resonant stone is of a deep grey tone with some
inclusions of white calcite in the form of slender veins.
