A HUANGHUALI DRESSING CASE AND MIRROR STAND,
ZHEDIESHIJINGTAI
18th/19th century
The rectangular cabinet supported on horse-hoof feet under double
doors fitted with cut-out panels of opposing dragons and opening to
reveal three stacked drawers, the upper section housing an elegantly
executed framed panel with crested top rail and dragon terminals
fitted with six cutout panels carved with further dragons, prunus and
fronted lotus enclosing a cloud-scroll medallion center to house a
mirror, hinged ratchet support.
