THREE VARIOUS BROCADES
19th century and later
Comprising: a violet blue ground brocade
woven in gold thread with leafy, entwined
chrysanthemum sprays; a dark bluish-black
brocade with gold thread dragon roundels
amongst auspicious emblems and cloud
motifs; and another gold thread brocade with
a dense design of flowersprays and entwined
scrolling foliage.
The first 143cm x 162cm (56.1/4in x

Provenance
The first, attached label stating by repute:
“Originally purchased at the famous ‘Palace
Sale’ in Peking China in 1923 by the wife of the
American Counsel General”.
