THREE IVORY AND BONE FIGURES OF
STANDING IMMORTALS
17th/18th to 18th/19th century
Comprising: a finely and crisply carved figure
of a standing sage, wearing a tall scholar’s
cap and holding a small quadruped in his
hands, the robes with wide, loose sleeves
streaming down either side; a deeply carved,
standing figure wearing a tasselled rosewood
cap and holding a fan, his facial features well-
modelled and expressive under the prominent
brow, some edges with traces of the original
pigment, wood and stand; together with
a smaller bone carving of Dongfang Shuo
holding a stolen peach, wood stand.
The tallest: 20.2cm (8in) high (4).
