           A PAIR OF CIVIL OFFICIAL KESI FIRST-RANK ‘CRANE’ BADGES
           AND A PEKING-KNOT FIFTH-RANK BADGE
           Circa 1820
           The pair depicting birds with painted details shown facing the sun
           as they alight on a rock amongst foaming waves surrounded by
           scrollwork and ruyi clouds interspersed with the Eight Treasures, all
           above a gold and silver lishui stripe, each within a border of bats and
           Shou characters, 31cm (12 1/8in) x 30.2cm (11 7/8in); and the civil
           official ‘Silver Pheasant’ badge, buzi, 19th century, finely worked in
           gold thread and Peking knot with the white long-tailed bird facing
           the sun as it stands on one leg atop a rock emerging from waves
           surrounded by the Eight Buddhist Symbols, flowering peonies and   88
           large peaches, all on a gilt ground, 29.5cm
