CARVED WOOD GUARDIAN FIGURES
Late Qing Dynasty/Republic Period
Each carved with fearsome, grim features
and clad in an elaborate armour, the first
wearing billowing scarves and standing on an
elaborate stand of gnarled pine branches and
foliage whilst holding his sword, the second
touching his beard with one hand, the other
poised to hold a halberd, also standing on a
support of pine. The tallest: 109cm (42 7/8in)
high (2).
