FIGURES
Tang Dynasty or later
Comprising: a figure of Avalokitesvara atop
a lion, the shoulders and head surrounded
by a flaming mandorla, a small seated
figure of Buddha on a lotus throne, and a
further standing figure of Avalokiteshvara,
also surrounded by a mandorla, each of the
figures standing on a square plinth.
The tallest: 12cm (4 3/4in) high (3).

STYLE BRONZE FIGURES OF BUDDHA
Late Qing Dynasty
Each on a square plinth with four corner
legs, the first cast standing, clad in thickly-
folded robes and surrounded by a full body
mandorla; the second, seated on a lotus
throne, the mandorla surrounding the head
and shoulders; the third standing figure thinly
cast and covered overall in gilt. The tallest:
11.2cm (4 1/2in) high (3).

BUDDHIST FIGURES
17th and 18th/19th century
Comprising: a sectional, copper-alloy figure
of Shakyamuni holding an alms bowl, with 325
traces of gilt; a Pala-revival figure of Amitayus
holding the elixir of long-life, also with traces
of gilt; and a lama wearing a Pandita hat
lying flat atop the head, whilst seated on a
cushion. The tallest: 14cm (5 1/2in) high (3).

The posture of the lama in the group is
common among Gelug portraits, especially
the Fifth Dalai Lama (e.g., HAR 71167).
Gelug lamas also don the yellow pandita hat,
worn here in an unusual manner generally
associated with high translators (lotsawas).
