18th century and later
The mule standing with one foreleg raised,
supporting a saddle and saddle blanket with
attached trappings; the incense burner of
oval form, cast in relief with sinuous arching
chilong. The mule 25.5cm (10in) long. (4).

BURNER AND A SILVER WIRE INLAID
INCENSE BURNER
18th-19th century
The first of octagonal form modelled in a
the form of a drum, with upright rope twist
handles, set on three cabriole legs, cast with
the Eight Buddhist Emblems, Xuande six-
character mark; the second of bombe form
with elephant head handles, inlaid in silver
wire with bats and cloud scroll motifs, Shisou
mark to the base. The largest 14cm (5.1/2in)
wide across the handles. (2).

Xuande six-character marks, Qing Dynasty
The first, of compressed globular form with
a scrolling motif at the neck above a pair of
mythical-beast handles, and lappet borders
at the shoulder and foot; the second of gui
form, with mythical beast handles and a floral
band at the foot. The largest: 14cm (5 1/2in)
wide (2).
