Song-Ming Dynasty
Each of pear-shaped form, with mask-and-
loop handles, variously decorated with bands
of archaistic stylised bird motifs and taotie
masks on leiwen grounds, one vase with
incised two-character seal mark to base. The
largest: 24.8cm (9 3/4in) high (4).

SIX BRONZE MIRRORS AND A BELL
China and Japan, 17th-19th century
Comprising four mirrors of circular form,
variously decorated with designs in shallow
relief and central circular boss, the largest
decorated with cranes and inscribed 許
朝候造; a barbed-rim mirror decorated
with dragons; a Japanese circular mirror
decorated with cranes; and a parcel-gilt bell
cast with seal script Yi and Ling medallions,
meaning ‘Post’ and ‘Bell’. The largest mirror,
27cm (10 5/8in) diam. (7).

The gui, 17th/18th century; the ding, Shisou
mark, 19th century
Comprising: a small incense burner, gui,
finely decorated with bands of archaistic
birds and taotie motifs; and a tripod
incense burner, ding, decorated with cloud
medallions, the base with Shisou mark. The
ding: 11.5cm (4 1/2in) high (2).
