A ‘JIZHOU’ PAINTED ‘DUCKS’ VASE
SOUTHERN SONG DYNASTY
of ovoid form, the gently rounded sides painted in brown
slip with three shaped cartouches each enclosing a pair of
mandarin ducks in a lotus pond, reserved on a ground of
interlocking wanzi fret all above a scroll border at the foot,
a band of lappets at the shoulder and keyfret encircling the
cylindrical neck
Height 7⅝ in., 19.5 cm
