A LARGE PALE GREEN JADE ‘SQUIRRELS AND GRAPEVINES’
BALUSTER VASE AND COVER
20th century
The flattened vase elegantly carved to the front of the body in high
relief with a leafy grape vine and two playful squirrels, the waisted
neck with beast mask loop handles suspending loose rings, the
domed cover carved in openwork with the continuation of the vine
and one large squirrel, wire-inlaid wood stand. 34cm (13 3/8in) high

The slender vessel modelled as a trunk section, carved in openwork
relief with pine, prunus, bamboo and lingzhi, the pale green stone
with some creamy mottling.
