Each dish with a moulded ‘pie-crust’ rim, the
well enamelled in a palette of green, yellow,
aubergine, black, blue, iron-red and gilt with
a court lady playing a zither on a table in a
terraced garden, with a scholar and hidden
attendant observing the scene, surrounded
at the rim with four cartouches enclosing fish
and butterflies, reserved on a floral ground.
The largest: 35cm (13 3/4in) diam. (7).

Longqing six-character mark, Kangxi
Finely enamelled with two of The Eight Daoist
Immortals under a pine tree in a pastoral
landscape, with Lan Caihe reclining on a
spotted deer and playing a flute, and Zhang
Guolao with his ‘fish drum’, the flat rim with
four quatre-lobed cartouches enclosing the
emblems of the Four Arts, reserved on a
diaper ground with peony flowers. 38cm
(15in) diam.
