                        each of hexagonal section, nely painted to the exterior
                        in famille-rose enamels, the inkwell with six rectangular
                        panels enclosing scholars engaging with nature, the
                        indented divides with black and gilt foliate scroll on a pink
                        ground, the top with a large circular aperture for the ink
                        and three smaller quill holes, the sander with three gural
                        scenes alternating with oral sprays, the panels similarly
                        enclosed within lea ng oral scrolls, the top with three

                         orets centered by a pierced metal disk, all raised on
                        three conforming bracket feet (2)

                        ENAMEL DISH
                        QIANLONG MARK AND PERIOD

                        with aring shallow sides, the interior realistically painted
                        in polychrome enamels with three sh frolicking amid
                        waterweed beneath a sky-blue ruyi border at the rim, the
                        base with a four-character Qianlong mark inscribed on
                        a leafy double-gourd, the gilt bronze mount covering the
                        sides with a continuous peony and lotus scroll above three
                        foliated feet

                        one with deep rounded sides rising to an everted rim
                        supported on a broad ring foot, of semi-translucent pale-
                        pink glass, the other of slightly shallower form with uted
                        sides, of semi-translucent aubergine color (2)
                        Diameter of larger 11 in., 27. cm

                        PROVENANCE
                        Acquired in Boston 1940s-1960s, and thence by descent.
