A WHITE-RIMMED ‘OIL SPOT’ BLACK-GLAZED BOWL
JIN DYNASTY (1115-1234)
The bowl is potted with rounded sides rising to an incurved rim covered with a white slip under a
clear glaze to simulate a silver rim, the exterior and interior covered with a black glaze embellished on
the interior with five large roundels of purplish silver ‘oil spots’ and ending on the exterior right above
the unglazed foot ring exposing the buff ware.
