sign). Each time you press this, it auditions another blend mode (well, it toggles through them one-by-one, but “audition” sounds much more regal. You
can also hover your cursor over each blend mode in the pop-up menu to see how each one will look). Anyway, while I was “auditioning” different ones, I
just liked the way Hard Light looked. However, a few of my favorites looked good too, including Multiply (shown bottom left), and Overlay (bottom
right). What’s interesting is that if you put the chocolate boxes on the top layer, and the cups and beans on the lower layer, and use the same blend modes,
you get entirely different looks—I love that. Don’t forget that Shift-+ trick. That’ll make you start to fall in love with layer blend modes, too.

               Layers: Layers Cheat Sheet
Here’s a quick cheat sheet of 10 layer moves you’ll wind up doing a lot. I thought I’d put ‘em all in one place to keep you from digging through all the
projects we just did, in case you need to refer back to this chapter later (and, I hope you will, but now you can just jump right here).

               1. To Delete a Layer:
In the Layers panel, click on the layer you want to delete, and then hit the Delete (PC: Backspace) key on your keyboard, or just click-and-drag the layer
onto the Trash icon at the bottom of the panel (as shown here on the left).

               2. To Highlight All the Type on a Type Layer:
In the Layers panel, double-click directly on the T icon for the Type layer you want to select (as shown here on the right) or, using the Move tool (V),
double-click right on the type itself.
