                       1 Edition 2020Foreword

My knowledge of Photography was acquired over decades of intense study and as a
graduate of the New York Institute of Photography. My first SLR (Single Lens Reflex)
camera, a Pentax K1000, was purchased in 1978 while I was stationed in Japan. Since
then, I have traveled and photographed much of the world with a variety of cameras,
mostly SLR cameras although in some places I could only use a point and shoot
camera. In 2004 I started shooting with digital SLR cameras, and since that time I have
improved my craft applying most of what I learned from shooting with film cameras.
Many of the same actions and processes used with your DSLR (Digital Single Lens
Reflex) camera apply to all camera types. It is this core knowledge that makes you a
               better photographer.

This course is designed specifically for the beginning photographer to the amateur that
desires to improve their photography understanding and skills. Each lesson builds and
adds to what you learned in previous lessons. As in the past, I make myself available
for individual help and you may contact me by e-mail or leave a comment or error,
needed correction you noted in the book.
