Sharpness from Front to Back

                                                                                 As you can see, everything
                                                                                 from the front to the back is
                                                                                 in focus in this photograph
                                                                                 of the lights in St.
                                                                                 Augustine, Florida. For the 8
                                                                                 second exposure a tripod
                                                                                 was used. I chose f/16 as this
                                                                                 ensured everything would be
                                                                                 in focus.

               Distance Changes DoF


               This photograph was shot from the ground
               looking up at the cathedral. The distance of
               the lens from the foreground increased my
               depth of field resulting in a sharp image at
               f/9. Being closer to your subject will
               narrow the DoF, while being at more of
               distance will increase the DoF.
