The Voice - Winter 2023
P. 1

TTA laid out its strategic plan in November 2021, which will continue to set UK tile and related product standards, drive training and learning for all
and develop a Master Tile Fixer certification for UK tilers. It will also offer benefits that members really value, with a focus on tile fixers and retailers, creating a vibrant member community and broadening the membership base. We will build strong relationships with government bodies and take every opportunity to share our passion for tiles.
There are 3 pillars that underpin everything that TTA do. They are:
1. Raise tile and tiling standards and enhance installation expertise and craftmanship
2. Improve the value of membership and attract, engage and retain more members
3. Promote the benefits of tiles and provide a unified voice for the industry at government level

organisations such as CITB, on all matters of industry-
related training on behalf of our members. Working
with the Department of Education, TTA has supported
the Apprenticeship Trailblazer Working Group in the development
of the Wall and Floor Tiler Trailblazer Apprenticeship Scheme. TTA also offers EWPA and OSAT assessments to assist experienced tilers to gain their NVQ qualifications.
In 2023, The Training Committee has provided Technical Masterclasses on a wide range of useful topics such as External Tiling to Balconies, Terraces & Patios. These Masterclasses were held at both TTA HQ and wider industry locations such as Domus’ Birmingham showroom. Moreover, the Committee worked closely with CITB to compile a “Route to Competence; programme to show how an individual becomes competent in their sector.” Membership application forms for both fixers and contractors have been updated to request details with regards to tiling qualifications held and number of apprentices currently being trained.
