DEFINITION OF THE FOUR ROLES
CHURCH PLANTING IN UNREACHED PEOPLE GROUPS
Pioneer church planting amongst people groups who do not
have access to the gospel, and have no viable and reproducing
church in their own language. This task involves moving into the
context of the people group, learning their language and culture,
and working to translate Scripture into their heart language so
that the new church has means of growing, and spreading the
good news to others.
MAJORITY LANGUAGE WORK
Church planting, mobilizing, and training believers within a
majority language context that already has a healthy church
and/or Scripture in their language. This can involve moving into
the context of the majority people group, and learning that
language and culture so as to come alongside the local believers
in that area.
CROSS-CULTURAL HUMANITARIAN WORK
Humanitarian services that include disaster relief, flight services,
human trafficking intervention, poverty alleviation, health, water,
education, etc. This work seeks to emphasize the justice and
mercy of God in even the common grace elements of life, so as
to alleviate physical needs of people that require special
attention.
SENDING/SUPPORTING
Financially, emotionally, relationally, and/or prayerfully
participating in seeing the Great Commission fulfilled, but from a
home base (stateside or otherwise). This role is essential as the
means by which church planters are able to move overseas and
see others come to faith through their heart language. Believers
at home can help educate, mobilize, and encourage their local
church bodies to see God's heart for the nations.
