Eni strikes oil at Sayulita field
ITALY’S Eni reported earlier this week that it
had found oil in Sayulita-1 EXP, an exploration
well drilled at the Sayulita prospect within Block
10, which lies within the Cuenca Salina/Sureste
basin offshore Tabasco State, Mexico.
In a statement, the company said that
Sayulita-1 EXP had encountered 55 metres of
net pay consisting of high-quality crude oil in
the Upper Miocene sequences. Data collected
during the drilling process indicate that the res-
ervoirs have “excellent petrophysical properties,”
it said.
The well is expected to have a production
capacity of up to 3,000 barrels per day (bpd), Eni
stated. Meanwhile, preliminary estimates indi-
cate that the prospect holds 150-200mn barrels
of oil equivalent (boe) overall, it said. Block 10’s Sayulita field may hold reserves of 150-200mn boe (Image: Eni)

CFE, TC Energy strike deal on
construction of new gas pipeline
MEXICO’S national power provider Comision
Federal de Electricidad (CFE) said earlier this
week that it had struck an agreement with TC
Energy (Canada) on the construction of a new
natural gas pipeline in the southern part of the
country.
In a statement, CFE reported that the two
sides had signed a deal that provided for the
building of the conduit along an underwater
route skirting the coasts of Veracruz, Tabasco
and Campeche states. The pipe will originate in
Tuxpan, a city in Veracruz, and will connect to
the existing Mayakan pipeline at sites in Tabasco Mayakan pipeline (Image: Mayakan Energia)
and Campeche, it said.
The state-owned utility did not reveal how access more gas. “The agreement aims to solve
long the pipeline might be or how much it a long-running problem of the lack of natural
might cost to build. It did say that the project gas supply in the Mexican south-east and the
would allow the southern part of the country to Yucatan Peninsula,” it commented.
