Chornomorsk got a boost after Denmark’s Maersk, the world's largest container carrier stopped using Odesa port on April 1, routing all cargo through Chornomorsk or Yuzhny. Maersk never publicly explained why. There have been recurring complaints about corruption at Odesa port.Geneva-based Risoil S.A. is increasing by 50% the loading capacity of its grain terminal at Chornomorsk, World Grain news site reports. With the assembly of a new German-made, rail-mounted Neuero ship loader, capable of loading 1,000 tons an hour, the terminal’s capacity will reach 22,000 tons of grain per day.
Ukraine to build Hyperloop transportation system “ We have signed a memorandum with Hyperloop Transportation Technologies, the largest developer of Hyperloop technology,” the Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelian has announced. Among the results of this visit is the intention to work together to develop this technology. According to the memorandum, we will jointly develop technology and search investors for this project,” he said. "I hope that we will be able to create a joint center in Ukraine. The location will be either in Kyiv or in Dnipro," the minister added, Ukrinform reports. "We want to see at least one Hyperloop line in Ukraine in the next five years...[then] to negotiate with partners in China and the European Union to connect Hyperloop delivery of goods from China to the EU countries," he elabourated, UNIAN reports.
Boryspil Airport ranked second for passenger flow increase in ACI Europe rating . According to the results of Airports Council International (ACI Europe), Boryspil International Airport took the second place in the category of airports that handle 10-25mn passengers in April 2018. Passenger flow increase by 21.8%,” reads the report. ACI Europe’s latest Airport Traffic Report includes figures from 243 airports in total representing more than 88% of European air passenger traffic.
Dutch to build 2 chemical tankers in Ukrainian shipyards . Smart Maritime Group (SMG) of Smart-Holding is building two chemical tanker hulls at the Kherson Shipyard for Dutch VEKA Shipbuilding WT B.V. According to the contract signed in May, SMG will build hulls, install pipeline network, deck equipment and paint the tanker hulls. The contract is valued at over UAH145mn (some $5.6mn is the first for 5 years. The second tanker hull will be built at Mykolaiv Shipyard belonging to SMG. “This is really an important event for Ukrainian shipbuilding, since it is the first foreign contract in the industry since 2013. We have made great efforts to convince the customer, to convince Ukrainian and European banks to finance this project” SMG’s press service said, citing Director General of SMG Vasyl Fedin. Passenger traffic at Kyiv’s Sikorsky (Zhuliany) Airport is up 69% this year
through May, to 856,800 passengers, the airport reports. The airports seems to be on track for another record year as passenger traffic in May was up 2.5 times greater than May 2017. On May 26, the day of the UEFA Football Championship, the airport handled a record 11,000 passengers. Over the next month the airport gains eight foreign destinations: Bravo starts flights to Lublin, Ernest to Bologna, LOT Polish to Bydgoszcz, Pegasus to Izmir, Turkey, and Wizz Air to Berlin, Frankfurt, Lisbon and Tallinn.
