Ukraine’s state-owned railway monopoly Ukrzaliznytsia is going to secure financing from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD ) for the company's infrastructure projects, Ukrzaliznytsia said in a statement on June 14. According to Ukrzaliznytsia's acting chairman Yevhen Kravtsov, a number of important projects have been implemented in cooperation with the EBRD such as the construction of the Beskydsky tunnel, the acquisition of rolling stock, and introduction of high-speed rail links in Ukraine, according to Interfax news agency.
Ukraine has successfully passed the International Maritime Organization (IMO) audit , Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan has said. According to him, now Ukrainian experts are invited to become IMO auditors, and Ukraine will be an example for other states, how to prepare for the audits. The minister also pointed out the importance of the IMO audit for Ukraine, saying that 80% of the global freight traffic is by sea, and every sixth sailor in the world is Ukrainian

Beer market up . The Ukrainian beer market in 2018 will show positive dynamics, AB InBev Efes President Dmytro Shpakov said. “We expect that the market in 2018 will not only stabilize, but will show positive dynamics, given that in 2018 excise tax was not raised,” he told Interfax-Ukraine. He noted that, according to research by Nielsen, beer consumption in Ukraine increased by 1.6% in 2017 against the fall of 7.2% in 2016.
Ukraine’s 2018-2019 crop year wheat and barley harvest and exports are expected to decline due to a severe drought across the country, according to a report published by the UkrAgroConsult agriculture consultancy on June 12. The consultancy's wheat harvest forecast was lowered by 3% to 25.5mn tonnes and exports to 16mn tonnes from 17mn tonnes forecast in May. The harvest of barley is likely to decrease by 4% to 7.1mn tonnes, while 2018-2019 barley exports could fall to 3.7mn tonnes from the previous estimate of 4mn tonnes, according to Reuters. Earlier, UkrAgroConsul said that Ukraine was on course for a good harvest on a par with last year, despite the hot and dry weather. The warmer than usual weather has yet to affect the crops, the experts said, but the outlook will deteriorate if the dry patch persists. Top soils have already dried out, but the subsoil remains moist enough to sustain the grain.
Drought affects one quarter of Ukraine, largely in the southeastern regions of Zaporizhie, Kherson and Kharkiv, Tatiana Adamenko, head of the weather department of Ukraine’s Hydrometeorological Center, tells Interfax-Ukraine. The weather center will update its crop forecast in two weeks. The All-Ukrainian Agrarian Union says the drought could cause some harvests in southeast Ukraine to fall this year by as much as 50%.
