“We are very proud of LNG London, the rst inland LNG bunkering ship in Europe. e inland capability o ers clear logistical bene ts for end users, bene ts that will help drive the growth of LNG as a cleaner marine fuel.”
LNG London will be loaded with LNG
at the Gate terminal in Rotterdam. An innovative transfer system enables delivery of LNG to seagoing vessels, inland barges and terminals onshore, while a restricted air dra allows the barge to sail via inland waterways to Antwerp and Amsterdam, if required.
When compared to traditional marine fuels, natural gas signi cantly reduces Nox and reduces overall GHG emissions by
up to 21%, according to a “well-to-wake” emissions study by inkstep. Given the International Maritime organization’s 0.5% sulphur cap implementation by 2020, there is an increasing interest from the international marine community to consider LNG as a marine fuel.

Gasum’s Coralius reaches bunkering milestone in Rotterdam bunkering ship- to-ship
Gasum’s lique ed natural gas (LNG) bunker vessel, Coralius, made its rst bunkering
in the port and re ning area of Rotterdam, one of the most important logistics hub in Europe. A milestone of her ship-to-ship bunkering history is reached when proving her availability in the ARA (Amsterdam- Rotterdam-Antwerp area). Lique ed natural gas (LNG) was supplied to the vessel Bit Viking.
“It’s time to celebrate,” says Kimmo Rahkamo, Vice President, natural gas and LNG, Gasum. “Finally, being able to bunker our clients in the ARA area increases LNG availability and security for the LNG fueled eet. e amount of LNG driven vessels is growing rapidly globally, and we will de nitely be part of the growth in being present where LNG is needed,” he concludes.
Coralius has her main operation area in the North Sea and the Skagerrak area. End of February she celebrated another milestone as she completed her 100th bunkering operation in just 18 months. Coralius delivers LNG through ship-to-ship bunkering at sea and in port. is has signi cantly increased Gasum’s exibility and responsiveness to vessels that require LNG but are unable to visit a terminal or a port. By making LNG more accessible to vessels, ship-to-ship bunkering also boosts e ciency.
“We are happy with this opportunity to
get LNG by ship-to-ship bunkering also in
the Port of Rotterdam. our vessel Bit Viking converted to LNG already in 2011. Since then we have operated on LNG about 97% of the time, mainly supported by Gasum. We would like to continue on this path and consequently we are depending on reliable and exible LNG supplies,” says Anders Hermansson, Technical Manager of Tarbit Shipping.

Containerships receives second LNG container ship
A new LNG ship has joined the Containerships eet: Containerships Polar.
As the second LNG-powered ship for Containerships and the CMA CGM Group, the CoNTAINERSHIPS PoLAR will be phased into the redesigned BALT 2 service
in the Port of Rotterdam on June 23. At the beginning of May, the 1,380-TEU vessel started its voyage from Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard in China to Northern Europe
where it will operate alongside its sister ship Containerships Nord.
With its dimensions and its high ice class, the Containerships Polar is suited for the navigational and climatic challenges of its operational area in Northern Europe and the Baltics. Moreover, the ship provides best-in- class container intake: with an exceptional high intake of 40 and 45 pallet-wide
high cube containers, Containerships is underlining its customer-oriented approach.
At the end of June, the vessel’s rst LNG bunkering will be carried out in Rotterdam where it will fuel an approximate of 200mt of LNG via ship-to-ship bunkering. With its future sister ships Containerships Arctic and Containerships Aurora, two more LNG- powered vessels will join the eet by the end of the year.
e CMA CGM Group will operate 20
LNG-powered vessels by 2022.

Q-Flex vessel sets delivery benchmark in Turkey
Qatargas operating Company Limited (Qatargas) today announced the safe delivery of the largest single cargo of lique ed natural gas (LNG) to the Marmara LNG Terminal in Turkey. e super-chilled LNG was delivered on board the Q-Flex vessel ‘Al Sheehaniya’, which enters the record books as the rst ever Q-Flex vessel to call at the recently expanded Marmara LNG Terminal.
Khalid bin Khalifa Al ani, Chief Executive o cer, Qatargas said: “ e recent expansion of Marmara LNG Terminal
allows Qatargas to send the world’s largest LNG vessels to yet another LNG terminal
in Turkey. With 14 LNG trains and a total annual production capacity of 77 million tonnes, Qatargas is ideally positioned to meet increasing customer demand for reliable LNG, and capture the economies of scale a orded by Q-Flex and Q-Max LNG vessels.”
e Marmara LNG terminal is owned by BoTAS, the Turkish state-owned integrated gas company. e terminal was originally designed to accommodate conventional size vessels, and recently went through upgrades to accommodate both Q-Flex and Q-Max vessels.
Al Sheehaniya is a Q-Flex class LNG vessel with an overall cargo carrying capacity of 210,000 m3. Al Sheehaniya loaded a cargo
of ~207,000 m3 of LNG at the Ras La an terminal in Qatar on 30 May 2019 before heading to the Marmara LNG Terminal in Turkey.
