China installs 10MW offshore wind turbine
A 10MW wind turbine developed by Dongfang Electric Corporation (DEC)
and China ree Gorges Corporation was connected to the grid on Sunday a er being installed o the coast of China’s Fujian province.
Chinese state-run enterprise Dongfang Electric said that the new o shore wind turbine can generate 40mn kWh of electricity per year and thus meet the annual power needs of around 20,000 three-member homes.
e turbine maker expects the machine to enter mass production once the wind farm it currently forms part of passes the test and veri cation phase. e machine will be used in other projects in Fujian and in a wider range of o shore wind farms both at home and abroad.
Earlier this year, Dongfang Electric successfully concluded the assembly and commissioning for various subsystems of a 7MW, typhoon-resistant o shore wind turbine.
A month ago, Shanghai Electric said it had commissioned China’s rst 8MW o shore wind turbine and was ready to begin bulk orders in the market.

Siemens Gamesa launches
new onshore turbine in
India
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy continues leading the way in India, one of the largest onshore markets in the world, with the introduction of its next generation wind turbine, the SG 3.4-145. e new wind turbine is speci cally designed and optimized for wind conditions in the country, and has a clear objective to deliver the lowest possible Levelized Cost of Energy (LCoE) with high reliability. e turbine is strongly positioned to cater to the needs of the auction market
and aims to further drive the growth of wind power in India.
“ e Indian market is evolving fast and so adapting to the new market dynamics is key to our success and long-term competitiveness. e SG 3.4-145 - an incremental innovation, is a step forward in that direction. e long- term fundamentals of the wind industry remain strong and this new turbine means Siemens Gamesa is uniquely positioned to help our customers achieve their renewable energy goals, reinforce our leading position
in the market and accelerate the cause for renewables,” stated Alfonso Faubel, Siemens Gamesa Onshore CEO.
e new wind turbine is an extension
of the Siemens Gamesa 3.X platform, of which the company has installed more than 3GW globally, and will be manufactured in its facilities in India starting in early 2021. e new model has been upgraded with the 145-meter rotor of the Siemens Gamesa 4.X platform thanks to its modularity, increasing the swept area by 41% and the AEP by 48%, compared to the previous SG 2.2-122. is rotor is already under production in India and the combination of known and proven technologies has enabled Siemens Gamesa to drive the market into the 3MW segment, with the most competitive and reliable solution for projects in India.
e SG 3.4-145 stands 127.5m tall, with a blade-tip height of 200m, which helps it to maximize wind potential at every site.
Furthermore, the turbine is designed to adapt to India’s extreme and varying weather conditions supported by an advanced monitoring and cooling system, which ensures e cient thermal conditioning and performance at high-temperature sites. SIEMENS GAMESA

Siemens Gamesa wins
165MW Vietnam turbine
order
Siemens Gamesa has scored a double order, including one for the largest nearshore wind farm in Vietnam, as the country quickly advances on its renewable ambitions. e two deals, with 75MW and 90MW at the Tan uan and ai Hoa wind farms respectively, will use the SG 5.0-145 turbines, which are among the most powerful turbines on the Vietnamese market.
e Tan uan wind farm is the fourth nearshore project Siemens Gamesa has secured in Vietnam and it is also the largest nearshore project to date in the country. e orders follow the company’s largest order in Vietnam announced in March for 113MW, helping to cement its market leading position.
e two deals also mark the rst-ever
