The jobless rate in Ukraine increased to 9.9% in the fourth quarter of 2017  from 8.9% in the same period a year ago. The number of unemployed people rose by 150 thousand to 1,761.3 thousand and employment declined by 473,500 to 15,955,100. Meanwhile, the economic activity rate fell to 61.5% from 62.6%. Unemployment Rate in Ukraine averaged 8.56% from 2003 until 2017, reaching an all time high of 10.60% in the fourth quarter of 2014 and a record low of 6.30% in the third quarter of 2013.
Salaries and wage debts rising.  The average nominal salary of a full-time employee in Ukraine in April 2018 increased by 27.3% y/y, to UAH8,480. But UNIAN reports that wage debts in April 2018 increased by 2.1% from March 2018, to UAH2.474bn, or $S$94.7mn, as of 1 May. Delayed wages have grown by 4.4% since the beginning of the year, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine has announced 1 Debts owed to employees of operating enterprises as of May 1, 2018, amounted to UAH1.325bn, or $$50.7mn (103.7% y/y).
Largest wage debtors “named to be shamed.” The Ministry of Justice has published a list of companies with the biggest wage debts. "Let Ukraine know its ‘record breakers.'
