     Turkish manufacturers to supply engines for military drones, Ukrinform reports from the SAHA Expo 2021 defense show in Istanbul. The contracts are the latest of 30 defense manufacturing deals signed by the two Black Sea countries in the last four years, says Halyuk Bayraktar, chief technology officer of drone maker Baykar Makina.
Baykar Makina signed a deal with Ivchenko-Progress to supply turbojet engines for Turkey’s future unmanned fighter, the MIUS. In addition, Motor Sich to produce engines for the AKINCI, the flagship of Turkey’s increasingly formidable drone fleet. Igor Kravchenko, director of Ivchenko-Progress, told Ukrinform of unmanned aerial vehicles: “Other UAV development programs are also being developed in Turkey. I am sure that new projects are waiting for us.” At the show, Ukrainian defense officials reaffirmed Ukraine’s plans to buy more military drones from Turkey.
Carpathian Mineral waters to invest €20mn to increase production volumes. The company plans to increase production volumes threefold by investing €20mn in the construction of a new plant in the Lviv region. According to Lviv the administration, the expansion will create 200 new jobs and increase the capacity of the new plant three times compared to the existing facility.
Ukraine and Turkey cooperate in the field of motor technologies. The announcement was made by Baykar Makina, CEO of Halyuk Bayraktar. “It is time to take our strategic relations in this area to an even higher level. You have technologies, we integrate them; we have the technology, you can use it, but there is potential for a new level”, added Baykar Makina. The Turkish company plans to build a center in Ukraine to carry out research, improvement, and production of unmanned platforms.
