Turkey is the largest destination for waste exported from the EU. Turkey is not only a dump for plastic waste; for instance, for more than a decade there have been media reports about an open nuclear waste dump on an idled factory land in Izmir.
It should be noted that the dump is just a single case known to the public since it is visible.
New rector at Bogazici University in Istanbul is expected to be ‘harsher’. Undeclared state of emergency is extended.
