    The number of mobile phone subscribers in Turkey increased by 2% y/y to 82mn in 2020, a penetration rate of 98% in a population of 83mn.
Some 93% of GSM subscribers, or 75.9mn, were using 4.5G on their smartphones.
One mobile user with two or more mobile subscriptions can account for two or more “subscribers”. There are also legal entities or machines that are GSM subscribers.
There were 12.45mn fixed-line subscribers in Turkey last year, up 8% y/y.
The number of broadband users in Turkey grew 8% y/y to 82mn with broadband fibre subscribers rising nearly 25% to 4mn.
Broadband data traffic leapt 58% last year to 36mn Tbyte. Data traffic on mobile phones increased 56% while fixed-line traffic was up nearly 59%.
The combined revenues of the electronic communications sector players in the country increased to Turkish lira (TRY) 77bn (€8bn) in 2020 from TRY67bn in 2019.
Investments in media and advertising in Turkey reached TRY18bn ($2bn) in 2020. Advertising accounted for TRY4bn.
