Unemployment falls in the first quarter of 2018 .  At the end of the first quarter of 2018 the unemployment level was 9.7% compared to 9.9% in the previous quarter, the government portal reports. “So, in absolute terms the number of employed population in Ukraine, aged 15 to 70 years was 16mn people, the unemployed, 1.7mn people”, it elaborated. About 3.2mn Ukrainians work abroad , Social Policy Minister Andriy Reva told reporters on July 3. Using a commonly accepted figure of 20mn for the national workforce, this means that 16.5% of Ukraine’s workers are outside the country.
Reva added that up to 9mn Ukrainians travel abroad every year for seasonal work . He did not clarify if some people were counted twice. Now did he clarify if this 9mn is in addition to Ukrainians working permanently overseas. Either way, with the EU raising barriers to African and Arab immigrants, Ukraine is emerging as a major source for guest workers.
