2.5.2 Inflation and monetary policy
The improving global economic situation is pushing inflation up in
Lithuania too. This is particularly evident in the raw materials markets.
The recovery in demand and the restrictions of the supply of this raw
material by oil-producing countries have led to significant increases in
oil prices.
Lithuania had the highest inflation in the EU at the end of 2021, at 9.3%
in November. Inflation will remain a challenge to the country’s
liberal-conservative government in 2022.
