             EGYPT       EGYPT is positioning itself as a reliable partner
                         for Europe to invest in the further development
                         of its domestic natural gas industry. The coun-
                         try’s Petroleum Minister Tarek El-Molla report-
                         edly said that natural gas reserves in the eastern
                         Mediterranean can help maintain energy secu-
                         rity in Europe.
                           Speaking at the Eastern Mediterranean Gas
                         Forum (EMGF), El-Molla urged multilateral
                         European financial institutions such as the
                         European Investment Bank (EIB) and Euro-
                         pean Bank for Reconstruction and Develop-
                         ment (EBRD) to come forward with loans on
                         concessional terms to help speed up exploitation
                         of Egypt’s gas resources and maximise the utili-
                         sation of gas reserves. This is on the basis that
