output declined 0.23% y/y in July, after dropping 2.3% y/y in June, the State Statistics Service reported on August 23. Seasonally adjusted output declined 0.6% m/m.
In 7M19, industrial output climbed 0.4% y/y. Manufacturing output inched up 0.3% y/y in July (after a 6.1% y/y plunge in June).
In particular, food production advanced 4.4% y/y (vs. a 0.3% y/y decline in June). Meanwhile, declines in metallurgy and machinery continued. Metallurgy output fell 3.2% y/y (vs. 6.0% y/y in June), while machinery output slid 0.1% y/y (vs. a 13.3% y/y plunge in June). Mining output inched up 0.1% y/y in July, significantly slowing from 4.3% y/y in the previous month. In particular, iron ore production declined 1.2% y/y, while oil and natural gas production slid 0.3% y/y. Coal output advanced 6.8% y/y. Production of electricity and natural gas dropped 3.6% y/y in July (vs. 4.4% y/y growth in June).
Regionally, the steepest decline was observed in the Zakarpattia (-19.1% y/y), Khmelnitskiy (-18.4% y/y), and Chernihiv (-15.7% y/y) regions. Growth was strongest in the Vinnytsia (21.9% y/y), Kirovohrad (18.0% y/y), and Rivne (17.4% y/y) regions.
Industrial production grew by 0.5% y/y during the first half of this year.
After increases in March-April-May, production fell by 2.3% y/y in June, reports the State Statistics Service. By contrast, agricultural production grew by 5.8% during the first half. Last year, industrial production grew by 1.1% over 2017.
