Openings and Stairways

Openings must be guarded by Guard stairways if:

one of the following:  There is a drop of more

than 1.2 m (4 ft.) from
 Cover over an opening
one side of the opening

 Railing with toe boards  The opening is less than

0.9 m (3 ft.) above the

 Worker guarding the hole working surface

 The bottom of the wall

opening is less than 10

cm (4 in) above the floor,

a toe board or screen

must guard it
