Lent is a time as we move through the weeks following Jesus to
the cross, to experience the depth of what it is that Jesus did for
us. I need this time set aside to reflect and explore my faith
journey and relationship with the Lord. Jesus modeled the way of
life, the way of love that God created us to follow. The suffering
that Jesus willing endured for each of us, for me, is beyond my
comprehension. I am humbled when I consider all my sin against
God and the role, I have played in sending Jesus to the cross.
During my Lenten reflections I am reminded to be thankful that
God has forgiven me for it all. To show my gratitude the least I
can do is to allow the Lord to use me in ministry and service for
others. This Lenten season I look forward to discovering what the
Lord has in store for me to learn about myself and about my
Savior. I pray that you will as well.
Prayer: Gracious and Merciful God, thank you for hearing my
prayer and for cleansing, pardoning, and shaping me to reach the
potential you created in me. Though the way of discipleship and
moving to perfection is not easy, I know you are with me and will
see me through. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God, tell this stone to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written:

‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’ ”
5 The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all

the kingdoms of the world. And he said to him, “I will give you all their
authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to
7
anyone I want to. If you worship me, it will all be yours.”
8 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve

him only.” The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the
highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw
yourself down from here. For it is written:“‘He will command his
