This requires making appreciation a goal,
because often life doesn’t go the way we want it to.
Living in the mountains helps make me appreciate life. I try to take
daily walks when I have time and weather permits (I live in the state of
Colorado, USA: “Rocky Mountain High” as John Denver sings.
I love the mountains and I walk viewing being grateful for them each
time. Now, I must admit I’m slowing down a little. I used to walk 5-7
miles a day at a 15-minute mile pace. Today I walk 2-3 miles at closer to
a 20-minute mile pace. I don’t keep track so I don’t get depressed.
Our wedding venue is also in the mountains and I spend quite a bit of
time at The Evergreen Red Barn. My family and I own and manage it:
Eileen, and my daughter Lisa and son-in-law Steve. Mountains make
you grateful, just being in their splendor.

The beach also does this for me. I look for things in God’s vast nature to
appreciate and to be grateful for. I’ve spent years cultivating a grateful,
appreciative life.
I’m grateful for so much and just don’t like grumbling. And there is
always a lot to grumble about and disagree about. And I try to avoid
