Campus Ministry News (cont.) Kairos Retreat #42
Students gathered for the 42nd Kairos Retreat at the Jesuit Retreat House in March 2019. The four-day retreat, led mostly by peers, provided juniors with a chance to strengthen their relationship with God, family and friends. On each day of the retreat students were given the opportunity to hear witnesses from both senior leaders and a variety of faculty and staff members, to journal and pray quietly and to listen to the voice of God. Through conversation with fellow students, prayer opportunities, and quiet moments, students get the opportunity to encounter God.
First offered in 1998, Padua’s Kairos Retreat has hosted our juniors for 20 years. We pray that all those who have been touched by Kairos continue to live the 4th!
Ash Wednesday Mass & Almsgiving
We began the season of Lent by celebrating Ash Wednesday Mass as a community on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 with Fr. Tom Nairn, ofm, and Deacon Tom Litwinowicz. Principal David Stec ’86 asked us to think about the one thing that is keeping us from being closer to God and then he challenged us to do something about it. We were encouraged to strengthen our relationship with God through prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
Throughout the Lenten season, we collected baby bottles filled with coins for Womankind and money through our 11th period collections to benefit Mission Possible, CRS Rice Bowls and
the Franciscan African Mission in the Congo. Students came together in prayer during the Lenten Reconciliation services, the weekly community Mass and by placing a link on our prayer chain in the lobby.
