Battle Scars Forge Iron Hides
I don’t know what a war of the body feels like. But I know what it means to fight a war of the mind.
Each day, I try to stand, and many days, I can, But sometimes, I fall.
Some days, I am cut down.,
But I have fearsome power.
One that terrifies my enemies, and gives my friends strength. It burns brighter than the sun.
It is harder than diamonds.
I have hope.
Each time I fall, I remind myself of what awaits me in the future.
I remind myself of the family I will have.
I remind myself of the things I promised myself I would do.
I remind myself that I must change the world for the better, whether I am seen or not.
And I stand back up and roar.
Roar at the top of my lungs.
Roar at the things that try to strike me down. Roar at the things that tell me I cannot do something. Roar at the things that tell me I am worthless. Roar with fury.
One day, the things that hold me back will see my true might.
Each time they fight me, they only make me stronger.
Each time I fall, I learn something new.
Each time I am defeated, I gain knowledge about who I am fighting.
Each time I am thrown back, I become more ferocious.
Each time I seem outmatched, I surprise them with my might.
And each time I fall, I rise, taller, better, faster, and stronger than I have ever been before. Eventually, the devil himself will tremble at the power I have been given by God.
