Fiery Red, Sam Hanna `15
Mostly Really Missed
I want to create something worthy of you
They read the poem you wrote and it’s casual irony was inspirational
You always were a poetic soul
Straight out of a song lyric and twice as pretty
I’d braid flowers in your hair most lazy days
See I knew you before I even saw your face, if that makes sense
You were so young
How the hell do you explain a fourteen year old dying to someone
You don’t
I feel like I’m really alone in this battle because let’s face it, I am
It’s just me who’s seen this
Who’s been affected in this way do you know how much it killed me when you said “I don’t think I’ll make it”
But still I want to write something worthy of you
You always were small and innocent
And I hate with a passion those who killed the light within you
I saw your picture on a wall and paused to admire how it captured your smile
Your pretty eyes and starry nose, the curve of your shoulders
Apparently they all tried to get to you like some charity case
But I promise you, you are not pitied in my eyes
Just the humble admiration of such a strong and beautiful soul
I know I’m a creep not worthy of your time but I hope I fit that picture in your head I hope you think of me as lovely
And I think you do, from the way you acted when I last saw you
We seemed a lot more familiar, and I cherish that
I know it isn’t much but I hope this whispers your name to the crowd
So none shall forget thee, my light in the dark
I want to memorize your poem and sing it to the stars
