Mission
Now only one thing do I still desire. In itself it sounds so simple.
If you could call it anything,
I suppose it would be help.
But it just isn’t that easy,
It’s not as basic as reading a book.
For this help, this desperately needed help, Could benefit the whole world.
I want to protect all the young, fragile girls.
The ones pinching thighs, crying in front of their mirrors Wishing that they too could be called beautiful.
For society is wrong,
The media is hardly ever right. Weight does not define,
It’s a simple adjective Nothing more, nothing less.
Skinny is fine,
And fat is superb.
After all it just means
That there’s more of you to love.
But I am not God.
I cannot be everywhere at once
To hold these girls and wipe away their tears.
This I know.
And yet, if only to start somewhere, Maybe this book will show
How foolish it is
To struggle with size.
Love your arms
And cherish your thighs.
Stop letting that scale determine your worth And then our world will meet a rebirth.
I am one of few who see the world this way,
But that doesn’t mean they cannot change
Their views and what they send on their screens.
Representation starts somewhere, and
So it may be that
The change will have to start with you and me.
