The Hidden Wall
The aroma of fresh hot dogs on the grill floated through the house. The silky smooth carpet rubbed through my feet as I ran around.
I ran after my sister like I was Tom and she was Jerry the mouse.
It started to anger me as she was swift and I tumbled to the ground.
She had stolen my precious blanket and I was not in the mood. I couldn’t catch her but I would not easily give up the fight. My mom could not intervene for she was making us both food. Her dangling it in front of me, taunting, was my only sight.
She was standing only a few feet away and I was ready to charge.
I ran as hard as I could and knew now was my time.
I didn’t see the wall even though it was white and large.
All you could hear was a loud “Smack!” and I was far from being fine.
I felt the gap in my forehead as the red blood flowed out. Four stitches were necessary to patch my wound.
I wailed and cried and all I could do was pout.
Now I have a white scar that won’t be forgotten soon.
I got my blanky back but at what cost? My sister is mean and this is all her fault. My head ached a lot and my dignity was lost. Next time I see a wall I’ll be sure to halt.
