I have a friend on four legs
Who gives me joy a thousand times over Who comforts me in times of trouble
Who gives me hope through all of my days
Her eyes that sparkle like the night sky Her fur a soft pillow
Her playful sounds that give me life BARK, RUFF, GRRRR
Her truly terrific and totally care-free tail That wags throughout the entire day
Her tongue sticking out a hundred miles long Makes me laugh, makes me smile
The collar around her neck with tags that sing a jingling tune That announces where she belongs
Her paw-prints a small mark
Of where she walks in my heart
The way her ears flop up in down with the rhythm of her step Makes me feel pure happiness inside
The way she lays down next to me
It makes me feel warm
She is my dog
And she was great But life is cruel
And death never waits
How I miss her coming to greet me at the door How I miss the way she smiled
How I miss her kisses on my cheek
My friend, why are you gone?
How I miss her rolling in the grass
How I miss living each day with a friend How I wish I could’ve said goodbye
But sadly, life moves on
