Lunch Lady Receives O cial Cavs Ring for Christmas
One of our most beloved lunch ladies, Carol Kosiba, received her o cial 2016 NBA Championship Ring from the Cleveland Cava- liers on December 25. “It was a wonderful surprise on Christmas Day,” said Kosiba. She has been serving our students in the Padua Cafeteria for 25 years, in addition to working part-time at Quicken Loans Arena for 15 years. If you are ever at e Q, you can nd her at one of the entrances scanning tickets. Chances are, however, she won’t be wearing her huge ring. When her family members aren’t taking it to work for show-and-tell, her ring usually stays in a safe place.
Sarah Rapacz Named National Merit Commended Student
Padua Franciscan High School senior Sarah Rapacz ’17 was recognized as a National Merit Commended Student.
A letter of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) was recently presented to Rapacz
by Principal David Stec ’86.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2017 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top ve percent of more than 1.6 million students who entered the 2017 competition by taking the 2015 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
A NMSC spokesperson stated, “ e young men and women being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success. ese students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational oppor- tunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”
