Bruin Takes Second Place in Fox 8’s Mascot Challenge
“Bruno” was one of 14 Northeast Ohio high school mascots who participated in Fox 8’s Mascot Mania Challenge on August 25. Viewers were asked to vote for their favorite mascot. Bruno nished in second place! A special thanks to Devin Pfei er ’18 for lling in and suiting up on a hot day!
Students Visit DC to Study Government
Padua students and history teacher Joan Giulivo took a trip to Washington, DC to study our government in action in January.
Students Help Save 90 Lives Donating Blood
irty students donated blood at our American Red Cross Bloodmobile on February 1. Together, they helped save 90 lives.
Students Launch Rockets in Newly Formed Astronomy Club
Padua has more than 30 clubs for students to join. Our newest a ddition is the Astronomy Club, which held a rocket launch in the fall of 2016 and toured NASA’s Glenn Research Center in the spring of 2017.
Sophomore Wins Parma Rotary Club Speech Contest
Sophomore Katie Sutton ’19 was this year’s winner of the Parma Rotary Club Speech Contest. Sutton presented a compelling speech about
the bene t of understanding and accepting mental illness in today’s society. is is the ninth year in a row that a Padua student has earned this distinction.
Freshman Receives Knights of Columbus Scholarship
Gabe Papke ’20 received a $1,000 scholarship from the Ohio Knights of Columbus on Wednesday, January 25. It is rare for a freshman to receive this honor. More than 500 students applied and only 40 received awards.
Turkey Bowl 2016
Seniors and faculty/sta faced o in a touch football game known as the Turkey Bowl. ey tied 13-13. e longstanding Padua tradition always takes place on the Tuesday before anksgiving.
Olympic Day 2017
Students, faculty, and sta competed in the 2017 Olympic Day Lip Sync Competition. e theme was “one hit wonders.” Seniors nished in rst place, faculty took second, and juniors nished third.
