Padua “Christmas For Others” Raises $30,500 for Charity
Padua Franciscan High School’s Christmas For Others charity drive raised $30,500 for the less fortunate, in addition to collecting thousands of canned goods, books, coats and toys. For 46 years, the Padua community has come together in the Franciscan spirit of giving. Since its inception in 1971, CFO has raised $500,000 for charity.
Our community raised funds in a number of ways. e most exciting was our Coin
Wars Competition. In 18 minutes, we collected $14,719 in cash for local charities and
families in need. Students also went door-to-door in our neighborhood to collect
canned goods for local food pantries and hunger centers. Our Italian Club hosted a
Spaghetti Dinner, which raised several thousand dollars. Several clubs sold nachos, hot pretzels and root beer oats. We had a student vs. faculty volleyball game, where $1 admission went to a good cause. We also had a blood drive, where students’ donations helped save 63 lives.
e donations were distributed to non-pro ts like Make-a-Wish, the Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity, inner-city schools, animal shelters and many other worthy causes on Friday, December 22, 2017 at the annual CFO Mass.
CFO is the largest student-run outreach program in Northeast Ohio. It is sponsored, organized and operated by the students, under the direction of Padua’s Key (Kiwanis) Club.
