Padua Renames Camp Corde Padua Franciscan Park
If you recently drove by the property located at 2901 W. Ridgewood Drive in Parma, you may have noticed the new sign at the front entrance reads Padua Franciscan Park. Padua purchased Camp Corde from Catholic Charities – Diocese of Cleveland in July 2005. e newly named 18.67-acre-site includes an enclosed pavilion for retreats, banquets, meetings, summer camp and celebrations, along with acres of wooded land for student study and a soccer eld, which is used by Padua’s soccer and lacrosse teams, in addition to youth sporting events.
Several years ago, Contractor Enzo Maddalena ’82 and his father volunteered their time and equipment to install a much-needed waterline. e week-long project turned into a month-long process digging through shale. When the project was complete, Padua wanted to thank the Maddalenas for their service by naming the pavilion a er them. Instead, Enzo insisted on honoring his beloved coach, who passed away in 2010. e building is now known as the “Dale Polick Pavilion.”
