In the New Testament, we don't go to a priest; we ARE priests. All born-
again Christians are priests. In 1 Peter 2:5-9, born-again Christians are told
"Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy
priesthood... ye are...a royal priesthood..."
The catholic church compounds their heresy by having the laity address their
priests as "father." In the context of religious leaders, Jesus said in Matthew
23:9 "And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your
Father, which is in heaven."
THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH CLAIMS "APOSTOLIC
SUCCESSION" FOR THEIR PRIESTS
But the Bible implies that an "apostle" is one chosen and sent by Jesus
Himself directly, who actually saw Jesus after He rose from the dead.
Luke 6:13 "And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of
them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;"
Since one of the 12 (Judas Iscariot) killed himself,
Peter said someone must fill Judas' spot, and he said in Acts 1:21-22
"Wherefore of these men which have companied with us all the time that
the Lord Jesus went in and out among us...must one be ordained to be a
witness with us of his resurrection."
Acts 22:13-15 "...Brother Saul [Paul]... The God of our fathers hath
chosen thee, that thou shouldest know his will, and see that Just One,
and shouldest hear the voice of his mouth. For thou shalt be his witness
unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard."
1 Corinthians 9:1a "Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen
Jesus Christ our Lord?..."
Hebrews 2:3-4 "How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation;
which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed
unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both
