Welcome to UNC Health Care
Welcome to UNC Health Care we are pleased to have you join the team. The Orientation
Program for the Division of Nursing at UNC Medical Center is centered on providing each new employee
with Essential Nursing Guidance And Growth Experience. The orientation program is called
E.N.G.A.G.E.
The orientation program for new members of the Division of Nursing is coordinated by the Department
of Nursing Practice and Professional Development. The first days of orientation cover information on
benefits as well as programs and departments of the health care system. The third day of your orientation
is information for new assistive personnel.
Your orientation manual includes information covered in class and additional information on services and
departments. You will also have an opportunity for hands on clinical skills practice.
The Division of Nursing at UNC Medical Center supports all staff to be involved in decisions about their
practice and work environment. Assistive Personnel are encouraged to participate in the Assistive
Personnel Career Advancement Team (APCAT). This team is part of the decision making model at UNC
Medical Center called Shared Governance. There is more information on APCAT in your orientation
manual.
Again, welcome to UNC Health Care. We look forward to working with you and to assist in your orientation.
