the divine name are in Exodus 3:15 and Matthew 6:9. Let’s examine their arguments.

               Exodus 3:15

NWT: This is what you are to say to the sons of Israel, ‘Jehovah the God….”

NIV: God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The LORD, the God of your fathers—the God of
                    15
Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’

               “This is my name forever,
the name you shall call me
                   from generation to generation.

The word for LORD in the original Hebrew text is YHWH or Yahweh. In this verse, God’s name is YHWH,
God of Abraham, God of Isaac, God of Jacob (four different names). God is known by hundreds of other
names throughout the Scriptures. Hence, this verse does not mean that Jehovah is the ONLY name by
               which God can be addressed.

Ask the Jehovah’s Witness, “Since God in this verse is called by four different names, doesn’t this
mean that the name Jehovah is not the only way that God can be addressed?

Consider the Lord’s Prayer in Matthew 6:9, a proof text used by Jehovah’s Witness to provide God’s only
divine name is “Jehovah.” Jesus called God “Our Father!”

In Matthew 6:9, the NWT says, “Our Father in the heavens, let your name be sanctified.” According to
Jehovah’s Witness, the only way God’s name can be sanctified is by calling Him by His true name,
“Jehovah.” According to Jehovah’s Witnesses modern translations have REMOVED God’s divine name
from the texts and have perverted Scripture. There is not a shred of evidence that this is true…this is an
                                                              nd
out and out lie. We have manuscripts back to the 2 century that prove that God’s name in every text
               have been retained as written.

In Exodus 3:15, the Lord is not saying that His name is limited to one particular name, but that WHO HE
IS (the eternal one) will be remembered by all generations…that they may know HIM.

The name, Jehovah, never is used in the New Testament. While it is certainly correct to refer to God as
YHWY (Jehovah), it is also equally correct to refer to Him by all His other numerous names in Scripture.
