Jehovah’s Witnesses and the Trinity

               11.4 Let’s Practice…

                       1. In I John 5:6-8, the Spirit is identified with water and blood. JWs say that since water and
blood are not persons, therefore the Holy Spirit is also not a person. What Scriptural rebuttal
could you give to this form of reasoning?

                       2. In Matthew 28:19 we are to baptize in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy
Spirit. The Greek word ___________________ is almost always used to refer to persons.

               3. JWs say that the Holy Spirit is an “active force” because the Greek word for “Spirit” is neuter in
gender. How can you rebut that argument?

               4. The Scripture writers break a grammatical rule when referring to the neuter noun, “spirit (Holy
Spirit).” What rule doe they break and how do they break it?

               5. According to the JWs, the trinity is a false doctrine adopted by the church during the reign of
               emperor

               6. True or False The word “Jehovah” is found in the Scriptures around 5,300 times.

7-8 According to John 17:3, Jesus describes the Father as the “only true God.” What simple form of logic
could you use to help a JW see that this only true God is Jesus?

9-10. In Matthew 28:19 the word “name” is in what tense? But three persons are
mentioned to have this name. What does this say?
